Henry Ford Innovation Institute
This was the first time Armstrong’s aluminum ceiling beam system had been installed anywhere and the architect specifically designed the materials to flow through two different spaces as if they appeared to be a single wave element. Each aluminum beam run turned up and down in a wave, appearing as a series of wood beams but needed to be individual suspended with aircraft cables. They were hung without any spacers to maintain the near perfect placement within the system. Turner Brooks experience and forward-thinking craftsmen were able to layout and install this system without the advantage of any formal instructions.
